After coming home, I've had some time to look back and reflect on my study abroad experience. Here are my top 10 tips for those of you who might be studying abroad in Sydney in the future. Some of these might be good even if you're just traveling to Sydney (or Australia in general) in the future.

  1. Apply for student housing as soon as the application opens

  2. Apply for a visa as soon as you receive your Certificate of Enrollment

  3. In Australia, you do not need to bring so much cash

  4. Bring a good pair of walking shoes

  5. Remember that traffic travels in the opposite direction when crossing the street

  6. Use Google Maps for directions

  7. Watching a show in the Sydney Opera House is a must

  8. There are a lot of attractions that are free entry (museums, gardens, art galleries, etc.)

  9. Tipping is NOT an expectation

  10. There are a lot of small cafés and each has their specialty
